I am loving drugstore lipsticks and glosses lately, so I was very excited to see Maybelline's Summer 2013 displays when I stopped by Miejer today! This review will feature the Color Whisper Lipsticks in Nude Shimmer, Ravishing Pink, I Crave Coral, and Sienna Sands.
From L to R: Nude Shimmer, Ravishing Pink, I Crave Coral, and Sienna Sands...
Maybelline Nude Shimmer Color Whisper Lipstick:
Nude Shimmer is a very sheer (nearly clear) light pink shade with shimmer.
Maybelline Ravishing Pink Color Whisper Lipstick:
Ravishing Pink is a beautiful muted rosy pink. It's "my lips but better (pinker)". Love it!
Maybelline I Crave Coral Color Whisper Lipstick:
I Crave Coral is a nice peachy coral. I really like this one as well.
Maybelline Sienna Sands Color Whisper Lipstick:
Sienna Sands is a sheer warm nude caramel. It's a perfect everyday shade.
These shades lean towards more soft, natural, and wearable, instead of the bright and bold shades you usually see in most summer collections, but they're actually perfect for the summer when you can get away with minimal makeup or to pair with fun and bright summer eye looks. My favorites here are Ravishing Pink and I Crave Coral as they are a bit more pigmented, and the colors are both lovely. Sienna Sands is nice too for when you want a more natural nude look. Nude Shimmer barely has any color (just shimmer). I personally prefer a bit more color, but it's nice for those who are just transitioning into wearing lipsticks.
I really like the formula of Maybelline Color Whisper Lipsticks. It feels lightweight, moisturizing, and very comfortable on the lips. It has a sweet fruity scent. I find that it stays on for a good amount of time (about a couple of hours on me with minimal eating/drinking). The packaging is nice, but it has a slimmer tube, meaning you get much less product than other lipsticks within the same price range and quality, which is not really a big deal to me, but I think it's worth mentioning.
The only thing I did not like (and I know this is being a bit nit-picky) is the lack of seal or shrink-wrap because I had to inspect every lipstick to make sure that they haven't been swatched/tested. Of course, a seal or shrink-wrap does not always keep some people from testing the products (gross), but it's just easier for me to tell whether they've been tampered with or not.
Have you tried any of the Maybelline Color Whisper Lipsticks yet?
Where to buy: In your local drugstores.
