This or That Thursday: Too Faced Shadow Insurance vs Urban Decay Primer Potion

This is probably the most debated battle of the eyeshadow primers, and I can't believe I haven't already reviewed this stuff.

I have tried both Too Faced Shadow Insurance (TFSI) and Urban Decay Primer Potion (UDPP), and I often switch between the two. It's hard to say which one I prefer as they both have their pros and cons. With TFSI, the consistency and staying power is great and doesn't crease on me at all. With UDPP, the pigmentation and vibrancy seems better. TFSI contains 0.35 oz, while UDPP contains 0.37 oz. They both retail for $20.00, meaning Urban Decay gives you a little bit more for your money.

I think both primers work very well. All in all, it boils down to what skin type you have and what your preference is. If you have a drier skin type, you may prefer UDPP. If you have an oilier skin type, you may like TFSI more. If you prefer thicker and creamier eye primers, you might like TFSI more. If you prefer your primers with a thinner consistency and glide on easily, you may choose UDPP.

Just my two cents! Have you tried both before? What do you think?

  1. I owned TFSI before I owned UDPP, and I used it for a long time. For some reason though, it just stopped working for me. My eye shadow started creasing throughout the day. :-( Since then, I've switched to UDPP exclusively. The nice thing is that with a mini tube coming with a lot of their palettes, I won't have to buy any in the near future (I'm working on a jumbo size in the old packaging, and I still have a full size in the old packaging too).

    1. I have a lot of those mini UDPP too, and since they last a long time, I haven't even touched my full-size UDPP.

  2. In my experience TF works better on dry skin types. Even though I do have dry eyelids I do not like it at all. It's the only primer I had problem with shadows fading terribly. UD I love both Original and Sin, and just recently I bought anti aging. Lorac is also amazing I highly recommend it.
