2011 Beauty Favorites

Here are some of my favorite beauty products in 2011...

Favorite High-End Beauty Brand

MAC Cosmetics: I'm going to give this one to MAC for releasing the Mega Metal Shadows, Kissable Lip Colours, new Paint Pots shades, and many other great products in 2011.

Favorite Drugstore Beauty Brand

Wet 'n' Wild: They released a lot of great affordable products in 2011. I especially love their Color Icon™ eyeshadows!

Favorite Indie Makeup Brand

Silk Naturals: They're constantly coming up with great new products at reasonable prices. Plus, their customer service is one of the best!

Favorite New Product

MAC Mega Metal Shadows and MAC Kissable Lip Colours: I LOVE these! Both formulas were released with MAC's Peacocky collection in 2011. Unfortunately, these were limited edition products, but I know a few KLC will be repromoted in 2012.

Favorite Eyeshadow Primer

Urban Decay Primer Potions: I have tried a few eyeshadow primers, but I always find myself reaching for UDPP. (I have Eden, Greed, Sin, and Original.)

Favorite Cream Eyeshadow

Make Up For Ever Aqua Creams: I love cream eyeshadows, and I own quite a few, but MUFE Aqua Creams are definitely my favorites.

Favorite Powder Eyeshadow

MAC Mega Metal Shadows: I have fifteen of these, and I LOVE them all. They are richly pigmented, very soft, silky smooth, and easily blendable. They last all day without fading or creasing. I hope MAC would repromote or make these permanent.

Favorite Loose Eyeshadow

Silk Naturals Eyelights: I really like these. Each color has a highlight that changes hue depending on the light source and how the light hits it. I hope to see more of this in 2012.

Favorite Cream Eyeliner

MAC Fluidlines: They feel very smooth and creamy. They wear all day without fading, smudging, or budging. I only have a couple of these, but I plan to get a few more in 2012.

Favorite Pencil Eyeliner

Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes: New love for me! They are smooth, well-pigmented, budge-proof, smudge-proof, and long-lasting.

Favorite Liquid Eyeliner

Make Up For Ever Aqua Liners: Like the MUFE Aqua Eyes, these are also budgeproof, smudgeproof, and long-lasting. The color range is pretty impressive too.

Favorite Mascara

Lashem Double Trouble Mascara: This has become one of my favorites. My lashes look longer and thicker, and I love the fact that it doesn't clump even after a few coats.

Favorite Lip Balm

Silk Naturals Organic Lip Balms: These lip balms are wonderful. They are super moisturizing! They feel very soft on the lips (not waxy), and they smell yummy.

Favorite Lipstick

MAC Mattene Lipsticks: The texture is light, smooth, and creamy. They apply beautifully and provide an opaque color coverage. It has great lasting power without drying out your lips.

Favorite Lipgloss

MAC Kissable Lipcolours: These feel really nice on the lips. The texture is lightweight and creamy. They are long-lasting, but they're not sticky or drying at all, and they have that yummy vanilla scent. I loved these so much I ended up getting all 12 colors launched in MAC's Peacocky collection.

Favorite Blush

NARS Blushes: I got the NARS Danmari All About Cheeks Palette a few months ago, and now I'm hooked on NARS blushes. They are well pigmented, silky smooth, easily blendable, and long-lasting. I plan to get a few more in the future.

Favorite Bronzer

NARS Bronzing Powders: They apply beautifully, blend really well, and look great on the skin without looking muddy or orange.

Favorite Cheek Highlighter

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish: These are my favorites! They feel very soft and silky smooth, look gorgeous on my skin, and give me the perfect healthy glow.

Favorite Face Primer

Korres Face Primer: It makes my skin seem smoother and my makeup looking fresh without any silicone, parabens, sulfates, synthetic dyes/fragrances, mineral oils, petrochemicals, phthalates, and GMOs.

Favorite Concealer

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer: It has a great coverage and consistency. It is long-lasting and doesn't crease under my eyes.

Favorite Liquid Foundation

Revlon ColorStay Foundation: I really like this foundation. It looks natural, feels lightweight, provides good coverage, and lasts all day.

Favorite Powder Foundation

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural: When I'm in a rush or when I want a barely-there makeup look, I just buff this in with a kabuki brush, and my skin looks beautiful.

Favorite Setting Powder

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural: This is not only great on its own, but it also works well when used over liquid foundation. It sets it and it adds just a bit more coverage.

Favorite Makeup Brushes

MAC Brushes: These are a great investment. They are well-made and durable. I love these and use them on a daily basis.

I'd love to hear some of your 2011 favorites!

  1. I think I'll be the first!

I'm a student with tight budget and when I grew more interest on makeup, I got more concerned with health (after 2 very close relatives passed away from cancer), hence the choices. :)

    Best High-end Brand(s)
    Guerlain & Make-Up For Ever

    Best Indie Makeup Brand
Silk Naturals (My everlasting love. And addiction. LOL!)

Best Eyeshadows (I love them equally, but maybe a little more to the SN for the crazily lovely Eyelights.)

  2. @Frckls: Awesome list! Those SN Eyelights are just amazing, aren't they? I really need to try more Guerlain products. I've only gotten samples (deluxe and packets) from Sephora, but I haven't bought anything in full size yet. Might also sample Lucy. I've heard such great things about their foundation.

  3. SN's Eyelights are like dream comes true. :)
I think Guerlain products are super amazing. Especially their lip & face (foundies, powder, blushes, bronzers) products. Although price-wise it's crazy expensive.
Lucy Minerals is a must try. Sometimes people hates it because they find it applies patchy, but it's just a matter of application. Different people need different approach. I can turn it into heavy-duty foundation tapping it with damp BeautyBlender.

I'm also looking forward to try Tarte, especially their Amazonian Clay Tinted Moisturizer. The problem is they're not sold anywhere in Europe and I really have no idea which shade to use if I have to order online. Shucks.

  4. @Frckls: I love Tarte. I haven't tried their ACTM yet, but I do like their Amazonian Clay products (blushes, cream e/s, liners, etc.).

  5. I totally agree with you on Silk Naturals. Aside from my mineral foundation, which I get from Meow, SN is really the only indie company I buy from anymore.

  7. @robinbird_22: Silk Naturals is pretty amazing.

@Glitz Glam Budget: WnW is definitely one of my favorite brands.

    1. I'm addicted to MAC, but I must admit I prefer my Revlon Colorstay Foundation over my MAC Pro Longwear Foundation.
