MAC Ice Parade Wintercool Fabulously Festive Face Kit Review & Swatches

I always fall for MAC's holiday face kits. This year, I got the Wintercool Fabulously Festive Face Kit from their Ice Parade collection.

This kit includes a palette with four eyeshadows (Phloof!, Quarry, Brun, and Dance in the Dark) and a blush (Mocha).

From L to R: Phloof!, Quarry, Brun, and Dance in the Dark...

Phloof! is a frosted light beige with just a hint of pink.

Quarry is a soft plummy taupe brown with a matte finish.

Brun is a dark cool-toned brown with a satin finish.

Dance in the Dark is a black-brown with a satin finish.

MAC Mocha Blush:

Despite its name, Mocha is not brown. It's a muted plummy pink with a matte finish. It goes on sheer, but it's buildable.

MAC Hot Gossip Lipstick:

MAC Emancipation Lipglass:

From L to R: Hot Gossip and Emancipation...

Hot Gossip is a really pretty plummy pink. I love this one! It's beautiful as an everyday color.

Emancipation is a semi-sheer light pink with some shimmer. I already have a giant tube of this from the Wonder Woman collection, and I like it enough to keep this as a backup.

MAC 129SE, 275SE, 266SE:

I've never tried the special edition brushes before, but these are not bad. They're not as good as the regular MAC brushes, but they're not crappy either. I can definitely use them.

Overall, I think this is a good kit for those who don't have these colors yet. Most of these are part of the permanent line, so you'll be able to purchase them anytime, but if you like most (or everything) in this kit, it is a great value. The eyeshadows were just okay for me. I wasn't in love with the shades, so I doubt I would repurchase. I love Hot Gossip, Emancipation, and Mocha though, and I would definitely repurchase when I use them up.

P.S. I apologize for the delay in posting these reviews and swatches. My order arrived a couple of weeks ago, but I haven't had the chance to take photos until recently. I've been working a lot of overtime lately, and I must admit I'm a little exhausted.

Did you get anything from Glitter & Ice, Ice Parade, and/or Dazzlespheres? What are your must-haves from these collections?

  5. @Glitz Glam Budget: I agree. The blush and lipstick are both very beautiful. I'm glad they are both part of the permanent range.

@xasperadastra: I am so glad you asked. I assumed they were the same, but I swatched them side by side to be sure, and unfortunately, they look different to me. Ice Parade's Emancipation appears lighter with less shimmer.

@Hunter87: I really like the glittery handles on those brushes. It looks pretty cool. No pun intended. LOL

@4wheel: Mocha wasn't even on my list, so I'm glad it was included in this kit because I really like it.
